Complete repair kit for the DQ400 0DD 6-speed DSG mechatronic unit fitted to a range of Volkswagen Group plug-in hybrid vehicles.
A known issue with these mechatronic units is restriction of the small filter strainers incorporated into the hydraulic sealing gaskets. As contamination builds up within the strainers, hydraulic flow to the N218 solenoid can become restricted, causing transmission faults and problems with the vehicle's hybrid drivetrain.
This kit provides the components required to address this common failure, including a replacement N218 solenoid together with four replacement hydraulic sealing gaskets incorporating new filter strainers.
The Common DQ400 Strainer Problem
The original DQ400 mechatronic sealing gaskets contain small integrated filter strainers. Over time these strainers can become contaminated and restricted, reducing the hydraulic oil flow through the mechatronic unit.
When the strainer supplying the N218 solenoid becomes restricted, insufficient oil flow can prevent the solenoid from operating correctly. Replacing the gaskets renews the integrated strainers rather than leaving the original restricted filters in place.
Common Fault Codes
- P288400 - Engine Disconnect Clutch Stuck Open / Stuck Closed
- P172400 - Transmission related fault associated with the K0 clutch / hydraulic operation

Important Repair Information
Simply replacing the N218 solenoid without addressing restricted strainers may not rectify the underlying cause of the fault. This kit includes both the replacement solenoid and replacement sealing gaskets with new strainers so the affected hydraulic filtration components can be renewed at the same time.
